BiographyPIER PAOLO MACCARRONE is graduated in modern cello at the
Conservatory “V. Bellini” of Catania in the class of professor Benedetto
Munzone. He also studied in the Musical Academy
Hipponiana of Reggio Calabria with the teachers Arturo Bonucci, Claudio Marini,
Demetrio Comuzzi and Luca Signorini. In March of 2007 he has achieved the
degree in Musical Disciplines in Musical Institute "Vincenzo Bellini" of Catania discussing
a thesis on Dmitri Sostakovich and the Sonata for Cello and Piano op. 40. Then
he continued his musical studies with
professor Rocco Filippini and in the National Academy of Saint Cecilia
with professor Francesco Strano. In the
June of 2010 in
the Superior Institute of musical Studies "V. Bellini" of Catania has
achieved the degree of enabling to the
teaching cello in the middle schools. At the same time he frequents the courses
for the teaching of the cello with the Method Suzuki in the Italian Suzuki
Institute in Turin, where, under teacher
Antonio Mosca, in October of 2010 he has achieved the qualification to
the teaching with this method.
He has frequented masterclasses of Cello, Baroque Music and
Chamber Music with the teachers: Anton Niculescu in the Superior Institute of
Musical Studies "V. Bellini" of Catania; Valeriano Taddeo in summer
courses of the Mountain St. Biagio’s commune;
Alain Meunier in the Academy Filarmonica Romana; Sandro Laffranchini in
the Cultural Association "Naples Nova", Erich Oskar Hutter, Riccardo
Bovino and Wilken Ranck in the International Summer Academy in Stift Rein;
Michael Flaksman in Summer courses in Cividale of the Friuli; Marianne Chen in
the Musical Academy Jacopo Napoli in Cava dei Tirreni; Augustine Lefevbre in a masterclass

some orchestral training courses with orchestral conductors: L. Mangiocavallo,
C. Rizzari, T. Bugaj, R. Salvalaio, D. Soga, P. Berman, G. Cosmi, C. Volpini,
W. Themel, G. Sobrino, L. Degani. In 2015 is graduated in baroque cello at the Conservatory “V. Bellini” of Palermo in the class of professor Andrea Fossà. In 2017 is graduated in viola da gamba at the Conservatory “V. Bellini” of Palermo in the class of professor Cristiano Contadin. In 2018 he graduated with honors from University Master in Professional Musical Educator in University Giustino Fortunato of Benevento. In August of 2018 he obtained Advanced Diploma in Orchestra Direction in Escuela de Direccion de Orchesta y Banda of Maestro Navarro Lara in Huelva (Spain) certified on ABRSM. In 2023 he graduated in Orchestra Conducting LRSM in Royal College of Music in London. He is winner of the first edition of the International
Musical Competition Magma of Catania,
third classified in the second edition of the same Competition receiving
unanimous positive consents of journalistic criticism as testified by the
articles published on the daily paper "The Sicilia" of June 16 th
2000 and on the daily paper "Newspaper of Sicily" of 13 June of 2000,

for the Italian Juvenile orchestra of Fiesole for the academic year 2002-2003. In 2005 he was declared fit in auditions for the orchestra Filarmonica Auditorium
S. Nicolò of Mascalucia. He has performed, as principal cellist of Filarmonica Auditorium S. Nicolò, with famous soloists
and conductors such as Pavel Berman, Michel Brousseau, Jinsang Lee, Bertrand
Giraud. Since 2007 he is tutor and principal
cellist of the Symphonic orchestra of the ERSU in Catania with which is
exhibited in concerts in the cities of Catania, Syracuse, Ragusa, Palermo,
Trapani, Messina, Sorrento, Naples, Salerno, Camerino, Padua, Perugia and Rome.
Accompanied by the symphonic orchestra of the ERSU in Catania he has performed
the Concert of Haydn in C major and the
concert of Vivaldi in D major op. III n. 9 for cello and orchestra. With the same
orchestra he is exhibited beside soloist of great fame as G. Sobrino, L.
Degani, S. Zorza, L. Lanzarini. The symphonic orchestra of the ERSU in Catania
in June of 2010 has been honored in the fifth edition of International Prize
"Santi Currenti" V Edizione (Sez. Music). From 2009 it is the principal
cello of the Symphonic orchestra G. Verdi and the juvenile Symphonic orchestra

In July of 2011 he is exhibited with the International orchestra of Suzuki teachers directed by Gesualdo Bufalini in the Cloister of the Nuns Leopoldine School in Florence. In October of 2005 he has participated as soloist cello in the recording of the music of the sonorous column for the film Barbara "The courage of the faith" composed by the sicilian composer Salvatore Coniglio. In January of 2010 and 2011 he has played as first cello of the chamber orchestra "L’Estro Armonico" with famous singers, the soprano Daniela Schillaci and the Baritone Simone Piazzola. In the summer of 2013 under the direction of Orlando Pulin ensemble has performed in operetta "The Merry Widow" and "The Land of Bells" on stage in some theaters in the province of Catania and Messina with famous singers, the tenor Massimiliano Drapello, the sopran Cosetta Gigli and Emanuela Di Gregorio. In 2008 he has participated in the recording a cd and a dvd with music recorded during the concert festival of the Symphonic orchestra of the ERSU in Catania. Since 2009 he performers with pianist Gabriele Tomasello. The duo has performed in the “Saloon of the mirrors” of City Palace of Giarre for the Season Concertistica "Autumn 2009" organized from the Musical Chapel "Mater Puritatis" of Giarre receiving ample consents of public. From the collaboration with the violinist Samantha Fidanza and with the pianist G. Tomasello was born the Ars Trio. This trio has performed in: Catania in the season you “Meet Musical and Concerts to the Musejon” (Concert Season Concertistica 2010/2011); Giarre in the Second Review “Giarre in Music” and recently in the “Saloon of the mirrors” of the Commune of Giarre in the Concert Season "Autumn 2011" offering classical music that spaces from the Classicism to the public what it spaces from the Classicism to the music of the '900.The Trio has been awarded in the IV European Competition of musical performance " City of Philadelphia " (Vibo Valentia) and winner of the National Music Competition XVIII Benedict Albanian Caccamo (Palermo) and resentemente he performed at the Auditorium RAI Palermo. He has played as a baroque cellist during the VI Festival of Early Music Gratteri (Palermo) and the VII Festival of Early Music Gratteri was part of the orchestra " MAG" which she performed accompanying the renowned violinist Dmitry Sinkovsky . Since 2012 is the principal cellist of “Haffner Orchestra” with which he has performed as a soloist performing the Sinfonia Concertante for Cello and String Orchestra by Leonardo Leo and recently with the tenor Massimo Drapello at the Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania, in Vernissage Premio Bellini 2014 Telethon and the internationally renowned soprano Lucia Aliberti in Concert organized by Banca Mediolanum for the gala evening at the Palazzo Biscari Catania. He is president of AMAC association that have organized in july of 2017 whith AFEM (Associazione Euro Festival del Mediterraneo) of Rome some concerts in Teatro Antico of Taormina such us " Hollywood Music Movie" and "Opera GALA I e II' in the Festival Bellininiano 2017 whith the collaboration of famous singers G. Dogan, F. Micale, G. Di Mare e M. Ratkova. He has published books for the publishing houses: Booksprint of Salerno, Simple of Salerno, A.M.A.C. of Catania. Recently he has recorded a DVD of the record company ShineRecords of Ragusa as soloist Cello of the ensemble “Shine Orchestra” directed by Massimo Incarbone; this DVD music has been composed by the sicilian composers Giovanni Leon Dall’O’ and Vera Sorrentino. The ShineOrchestra has performed in “the Concert Multimediale” to Taormina on January 22nd 2012 for TaorminaArte and in the Summer Season Concert which was held at the cloister of Palazzo Minoriti organized by A.Gi.Mus and the City of Catania. In 2004 he has achieved the degree in the Pharmacy and in 2005 the qualification to the aforesaid profession in the University of the Studies of Catania. In 2007 he has started the study of the Baroque cello, the viola da gamba, the musical repertoire and the Executive practice on Baroque instruments. In 2009 he has been teacher of Cello in the Secondary Scholastic Institute with musical course "Don Milani" of Lineri (Misterbianco. Catania). In 2011 he has been teacher of Cello in the Secondary Scholastic Institute "Pietro Mascagni" of Catania. From 2010 he is studying conducting and he has participated to a course held from Daniele Belardinelli and in the same year he has founded the School of Cello Suzuki in Catania. In recent years he has achieved some proficiency for teaching Cello, ChamberMusic, Theory, Rhythmics and musical Perceptions at the Conservatories of music in Palermo, Vibo Valentia, Avellino, Trapani, Cagliari in the Musical Institute of Ancona, in the Civic School of Music Riccardo Zandonai of Rovereto (TN) and in the High Music School “Regina Margherita” of Palermo. He has served as commissioner in public competitions in the Education Authorities of Catania and Syracuse and in the examiners of cello in the National Conservatory of Music of Messina and the Musical Institute of Catania. In the Academy years 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 have been teacher of cello in the didactic Pole of Catanzaro - National Conservatory of Music "Fausto Torrefranca" of Vibo Valentia.From the school year 2011/2012 until now teaches cello in a workshop of Cello at the primary school "Michelangelo Virgillito" of Paternò (Catania). In 2011 he has been professor of Cello in the Secondary Scholastic Institute "Pietro Mascagni" of Catania. From 2010 he is studying conducting and he has participated to a course held from Daniele Belardinelli and in the same year he has founded the School of Cello Suzuki in Catania. He is currently studying Orchestra Conducting with maestro Navarro Lara and the Musical Interpretation Course at the Escuela de Direccion de Orchestra y Banda "Maestro Navarro Lara" of Huelva (Spain) certified of ABRSM. In the Academy years 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 have been teacher of cello in National Conservatory of Music "Fausto Torrefranca" of Vibo Valentia. Since 2007 is associated with the SIEM (Italian Society for Music Education) and Italian Suzuki Institute and in 2008 founded the School of Violoncelo Suzuki Catania. In the academic year 2013/2014 has taught cello with the Suzuki method at the National Conservatory of Music Bruno Maderna of Cesena and at the School of Music "L' Estro Armonico " Mascalucia (Catania) . From the school year 2011/2012 until 2014/2015 teaches cello at the secondary school level of Giarre , in the School of Music Mousike of Enna, at the High School Musical Napoleon Colajanni of Enna and in Accademia Musicale Etnea S. Cecilia in Giarre. In 2019 he founded the Vincenzo Bellini Chamber Orchestra of Catania of which he is director. The orchestra inaugurated the Rites of Enna's Holy Week, performed in the closing concert of the "Festival Belliniano 2019" and in the "Happy Christmas from Catania" festival under artistic direction of Enrico Castiglione. The orchestra has collaborated with well-known singers. In school year 2016/2017 teaches cello in Secondary school F. Petrarca of Catania, then he teaches cello and musical introductory in Primary and Secondary School Mascagni-Montessori of Catania and "Ottavio De Cruyllas" of Ramacca (CT) and actually he teachs cello in Don Lorenzo Milani Secondary School of Misterbianco (CT).
