One of the most dramatic event in history of Caribbean was Haitian Revolution. A lot of blood, French Empire, Haitian Empire...

Haitian slaves, who had been transported on the island from Africa, usually worked on plantations of sugarcane, which was not the best job in the world. Rebellion on the island began after some dramatic events in Europe in which future ruler of the independent Haiti Jean-Jacques Dessalines participated, who had taken his owner's name. In this mess Spain made an attempt to gain French part of Haiti, but was repulsed. After the Spanish had been expelled rebels wanted to have a rest, but ruler of France Napoleon send 22 000 of his troops on the island. After series of maneuvers and retreats the Napoleonic forces gave up, and Dessalines became the consul of Haiti.

In the heat of the revolution struggle former slaves decided to beat a little their former white owners and commenced a formally slaughter, eliminated almost all white people on the island.

It seemed like former slaves gained the freedom. But it turned out that just like in most of similar cases this idea was utopian. Instead of building the flourishing place of African people the Americas got pure African state. Dirt is flowing in water system and citizens adore of sitting on the ground. Such a successful rebellion of slaves.
