Ginevra Petrucci

GINEVRA PETRUCCI was born in Rome (Italy) in 1989 and has begun her flute studies with her father to continue at Conservatory ‘Santa Cecilia’ of Rome where she got her flute diploma at a very early age.

After winning several prestigious scholarships (Musikhochschule Lübeck, Schleswig Holstein Musik Festival, Gustav Mahler Academy, Académie de Villecroze, Moritzburg Festival Academy Orchestra) she moved to Paris and in 2008 she got the Diplome Superieur d’execution ‘à l’unanimité’ in the class of Pierre-Yves Artaud and the Diplome Superieur de Musique de Chambre in the class of Geneviève Martigny at Ecole Normale Alfred Cortot.

She completed her studies receiving a Master of Music and an Artist Diploma from Yale School of Music (New Haven, USA) in the class of Ransom Wilson.

In May 2012 she has been awarded The Thomas Daniel Nyfenger Prize for highest standard of excellence in woodwind playing.

She has a very dynamic performing activity as a soloist as well as in chamber groups and as a visiting professor that led her to perform in Europe, United States, Japan, Brazil, Israel, Turkey, South Africa, collaborating with such artists as the pianist Bruno Canino, with whom she has a stable duo, the harpsichordists Huguette Dreyfus and Jory Vinikour, the harpist Emmanuel Ceysson, the violist Jean Eric Soucy, the trumpeter Guy Touvron and chamber ensembles such as I Virtuosi Italiani, I Musici di Roma, the Kodaly Quartet.

She recorded Giulio Briccialdi’s four flute concertos first world recording with I Virtuosi Italiani (Bongiovanni 2009) and the complete Quintets by Friedrich Kuhlau with the Kodály Quartet (to be released in 2013).

As principal flute of the Yale Philharmonia Orchestra and of the Yale Baroque Ensemble, the Chamber Orchestra of New York, she has played with conductors as Helmuth Rilling, William Christie, Sir Simon Carrington, Nicholas McGegan, Jahja Ling,  Peter Oundjian and Shinik Hahm. She is also a funding member of the Delphi Chamber Orchestra  and of the chamber group Cantata Profana, both based in the United States.

She is invited as visiting professor at Accademia Flatus (Sion, Switzerland), Académie Musicale de Villecroze (France), International Music Seminar de Vilalte (France) and Accademia Musicale Sherazade (Roma).

Among her most recent appearances are direct collaborations with composers Kaija Saariaho, Steve Reich, George Crumb and Betsy Jolas, her Japanese recital debut in Tokyo Shinjuku Bunka Center and her debut with I Musici.

Among her upcoming engagements are an international tour of recitals for Verdi and Wagner's anniversary, that will reach seven countries between Europe and Asia, collaborations with Nuova Consonanza contemporary music Festival and Biennale of Venezia, a recital at the Myra Hess Series in Chicago and her Carnegie Hall debut with Bruno Canino in November 2013.
